BELIZE FOR ME
A Journey of Transformation
By The Reverend Macarena Rose

Ready, Get Set - For Transformation

Who knew that a single mother in Florida, happily raising eight kids (don't ask --2 are biological and 6 adopted!) would cheerfully pull up stakes and follow a hunch, a gut feeling, a powerful calling to a new life in a new land.

Who could predict this experience would result in a wealth of warm friendships and profound connectedness to a new country and community --- and even a thriving business that has set new standards there and won many awards.

Foreclosure, by definition, is the legal procedure for satisfying claims against a mortgagor in default who has not redeemed the mortgage; satisfaction may be obtained from the proceeds of a forced sale of the property.

Hello from Belize

Paul Kammeyer

Hello Everyone,
As I read through the personal blogs of those that have chosen to relocate their lives I realize that what I had always dreamed about is more common than I had thought. The lure of a "better life" in a tropical setting seems to be the theme.

DONALD TRUMP – JUST ANOTHER AMERICAN GANGSTER IN BAJA

The 32 million dollars that "investors" lost in the Trump Towers scam is but another example of a U.S. marketing team with a "credible name" ripping off fellow citizens in Mexico. I use the term "investor" in quotes because many of the victims were investor-speculators. The "flipping" of condos, held with large deposits during "presale", became extremely popular and highly profitable, in the Baja boom days - 2002 to 2007. During construction, condos would often triple in value before completion. The same speculator motivation, in the overvalued U.S. real estate and stock markets, made Baja an attractive alternative.

Animal Rescue - Marcia Haas Living in Mexico since 2006

Boomer Abroad

Expat: Marcia Hass dedicated to: Animal rescue.

Originally from: Plentywood and Missoula, Montana.

Lives in: Six kilometers from Tepoztlán, Morelos.

Living in Mexico: Since June 2006.

Why did you move to Mexico?
My concept of an ideal life, once retired, was to live at least part of the year in some Latin American country. In 1994, long-time friends invited me to their house outside Tepoztlán. I found the climate to be mild, not buggy, and above all, easy on my arthritic body. There were lots of trails to hike, and varied flora and fauna given Morelos' many microclimates.

This could be us in the future or Now ?

God grant me the senility to forget the people I never liked anyway, the good fortune to run into the ones I do, and the eyesight to tell the difference. Now that I'm 'older' (but refuse to grow up), here's what I've discovered:

The 1031 Exchange and Foreign Property

The mystery of being able to 1031 Exchange USA property for foreign property and thus avoid paying capital gains tax on profits realized is not quite as old as alchemy but I am amazed how many times I am asked if this can be done.

Indigenous Cultures of Mexico and the Traditional Rebozos

An important part of the indigenous cultures of Mexico , are the traditional rebozos (shawls). These are worn by the women strolling across the small Michoacán plaza, matched by the bright confetti showering their coffee-coloured hair, festively completed with their lime green, burnt orange, and ocean-tinted skirts.

As I watched, while local villagers danced to the music of a live band, a young woman adjusted her hair over an aqua blue rebozo, and spoke to a friend draped in a vivid purple piece over a yellow blouse and pink skirt. Meanwhile, a young girl pulled a small boy along while carrying a load of belongings in the cobalt-blue shawl over her back.

Boomers Abroad

BoomersAbroad.com was born in direct response to hundreds of conversations with baby boomers from the USA and Canada who were seeking a new life, and to better understand how they might live abroad, travel abroad, relocate abroad, retire abroad and/or invest abroad. Leading industry experts and many of those who have journeyed ahead will share their personal experiences and knowledge in a great variety of areas.

Boomers Living Abroad

The number of Americans and Canadians living abroad, by today's count approximately 7 million (according to The Washington Post), is twice the population of Chicago and greater than that of 33 U.S. States. A number that has grown steadily over the past decade, and it is expected to more than double within ten years. In the next 20 years, 100 million baby boomers, from the USA and Canada, are going to retire. Five million baby boomers turn age 60 each year, Ten Thousand per day, Eight per minute, and scores of them are purchasing property abroad as vacation homes or investment homes. Naturally, many of them are auditioning these homes for potential primary retirement residences.
