Ahoy Mates! I haven't been sailing in quite a while, but after talking to Peter at the Hybrid Sailing Club in the British Virgin Islands, I've decided that it is much like riding a bike...and I'm gonna get back on!

Nicaraguan officials have approved a new law that bans property from being built within 50 meters of the high tide line on the beach front.
The decision is a tremendous relief to developers, who have had to endure 5 years of uncertainty and speculation…it was feared that the ban would be approved at 800 meters from the beach front! Could you imagine? 800 meters is a long way!

In a recent Happy Planet Index comparison of 143 countries worldwide (from Cambodia to Cameroon) the Dominican Republic ranked #2 behind only Costa Rica! By comparison, the USA ranked #114 and Canada #89.
The criteria used for the rankings are Life expectancy, Life satisfaction (Happiness index) and Ecological footprint.
I have to say that I am very pleased with the fact that 3 of the 5 countries in which I am recommending specific developments are within the top 30! They are:
