While Playa del Carmen real estate and Puerto Aventuras real estate may seem the same at a first glance, there are actually clear differences.  To make things a little easier, the following are some points to help show similarities and differences.

Sometimes, for those unfamiliar with Mexico real estate, it’s hard to tell the difference between to different communities – especially when both are on the beachfront, and even more so when they’re only half an hour away from each other.  This is the case for Playa del Carmen real estate and Puerto Aventuras real estate.  To make things a little easier, the following are some points to help show similarities and differences.

Size – Of course, Playa del Carmen is the main community in the area, the “heart of the Riviera Maya” as everyone calls it.  It is a small city, but growing quickly. Puerto Aventuras is a large gated community, but in many ways more comparable to a small town; you can walk from one end to the other, comfortably.

The Beachfront – Both share the Riviera Maya’s splendid beaches.  In Playa del Carmen, which stretches out along the beachfront, the beaches serve as the focal point of the whole city.  Many of the most attractive condos overlook the sand and the turquoise sea, while being within walking distance of the vibrant Fifth Avenue.

Marina and Golf – In Puerto Aventuras, the beaches are definitely an important part of shaping the community, with beautiful beachfront homes, and easy walking access, yet the focal point is more the 3 marinas, where luxury condos have beautiful views of the waterways.  There is also a golf course. Playa del Carmen has 1 golf course in town plus several more within a 15 minute drive.  The area as a whole is considered Latin America’s golf capital.

Services – Playa del Carmen has all services, including malls, movies and state of the art hospitals.  Puerto Aventuras has the basics, making life in this small community very convenient. Playa del Carmen is also only a short drive away!

The differences between the two boil down to a difference in tastes and preferences.  Either community is an excellent choice, but visiting the two, it will become clear quickly which one is best for your needs!

Boomers Living Abroad

The number of Americans and Canadians living abroad, by today's count approximately 7 million (according to The Washington Post), is twice the population of Chicago and greater than that of 33 U.S. States. A number that has grown steadily over the past decade, and it is expected to more than double within ten years. In the next 20 years, 100 million baby boomers, from the USA and Canada, are going to retire. Five million baby boomers turn age 60 each year, Ten Thousand per day, Eight per minute, and scores of them are purchasing property abroad as vacation homes or investment homes.
