Colombian city Bucaramanga will be not only known for its park, but now will be recognize for being the first city in Colombia to have introduced free city-wide wireless internet.
The capital of the state of Santander is the first city in Colombia and the second in Latin America to offer wireless internet for free. Only Santiago de Chile beat the eastern Colombia city to it.
The 100% wifi coverage in the city is part of a government plan to bolster the city's image and promote Bucaramanga as a city for business. The technology was possible thanks to the efforts of local public owned telecomunication company Telebucaramanga.
The wifi network of the city with 600,000 inhabitants can connect 4,000 users at the same time to the internet, from public places, parks or internet cafes. Good news for all of us living in this beautiful city !
