Puerto Vallarta, Mexico has become one of the most popular tourist resort destinations in the world. Because Vallarta is located along the Mexican Riviera on the Pacific Ocean, a substantial portion of these tourists arrive by boat; the majority in large cruise ships, however many come in their private yachts.

1-You can not safely drink the water or eat the food !

We have visited various parts of Mexico since the ‘70s and owned in Ajijic - Chapala since '96 and traveled more. In the late 70's a group of about 150 went out for a evening cruise and party off Acapulco. It turned out that over ½ got Montezuma's Revenge. That was the 70's. The next year we went to Cancun. No one got sick. And (touch wood) in all the years since, we have not nor have many of the hundreds of friends and acquaintances.

Do you remember the 1927 novel, "The Treasure of the Sierra Madre", which was about a couple of down-and-out Americans that joined up with a crusty old timer to prospect for gold in Mexico? It was later adapted into a film by John Huston in 1948, who returned to Puerto Vallarta, Mexico in 1964 to film "Night of the Iguana".

  • The athletic event with the most beautiful route in Mexico according to the AIMS will take place for the fourth consecutive year
Preparation is the key to success, and this is why this May, organizers have announced the Fourth Riviera Nayarit Touristic Half Marathon 2012 that will take place on November 17, but is already revving up the engines to attract a larger number of participants and to create a better competition.

Since the creation of the Riviera Nayarit brand five years ago, a priority for the industry has been to attract high quality tourism that poses a low environmental impact. This isn’t just a marketing issue, but a strategy to achieve an integral development of the community and to increase not only the raw economic indexes, but also the well being of the society as a whole – and high performance sports are a key niche to achieve this goal.

The strong impulse that Riviera Nayarit is receiving through events like the Touristic Half Marathon, which is promoted by the Convention and Visitors Bureau (CVB) allows to attract tourists and specialized media that cover these type of events.

The event organizers already have the support of the Mexican Athletics Federation, and of the Athletics Association of Nayarit, which is endorsed by the AIMS (Association of International Marathons and Distance Races). Mexican and international runners are now invited to participate in the fourth edition of the Touristic Half Marathon of Riviera Nayarit, which will take place on the main avenues of the Nuevo Vallarta touristic development.

SCENIC ROUTE

Extraordinary natural landscapes, golf courses, a marina, hotels, ocean views and 6.2 miles of navigable channels comprise the route that awaits runners, amidst an ambiance that combines festivities, camaraderie and sports.

The formula to organize this half marathon has been the following: bring together the experience from top organizers, and choose an amazing place with first-class lodging and infrastructure, impeccable streets and exuberant beauty; secure the endorsement from the FMA and the State’s Athletics Association to guarantee the support of all pertaining authorities, and obtain the AIMS certification to give the event an international scope.

In previous years, Riviera Nayarit even caught the eye of the AIMS representatives that measured the route, who stated that in the more than 150 destinations that they’ve worked on, they hadn’t had an experience like the one that this route offers.

EVERYBODY RUN!

It’s easy to participate in the Touristic Half Marathon of Riviera Nayarit, whether in the 21 K or in the 10 K category. You can already register online at www.delcorredor.com or www.mediomaratonrivieranayarit.com using your credit card or through an EFT, and also at all Mistertenis stores, during the Leon, Tangamanga and the Atlas Marathon in Guadalajara, or even one day before the race at the registration table. More Mexicans leaving U.S. than arriving since Depression

A four-decade tidal wave of Mexican immigration to the United States has receded, causing a historic shift in migration patterns as more Mexicans now leave the United States for Mexico than the other way around, according to a report from the Pew Hispanic Center.

It is the first reversal in the trend since the Depression, and experts say that a declining Mexican birthrate and other factors may make it permanent.

Middle class marches along in a changing Mexico: While many Mexicans and their neighbors to the north still imagine a country of downtrodden masses dominated by a wealthy elite, the ranks of the middle class are swelling.

(The Washington Post/Source: Pew Research Center) – Immigration from Mexico has plummeted

“I think the massive boom in Mexican immigration is over and I don’t think it will ever return to the numbers we saw in the 1990s and 2000s, Read Article Washington Post
