Insights on Manzanillo Mexico Real Estate: Interview with Broker Bob Findley
By: Charles Sipe at MexicorealestateInvestment.org
Can you tell us why real estate in Manzanillo is a good option for people looking for a retirement home or second home in Mexico? Property is relatively cheap in comparison to other beachfront communities in Mexico. Unlike other resort areas in Mexico where the primary industry is tourism, Manzanillo’s first industry is the port. In Manzanillo you don’t experience the “tourist hustle” relative to other resort areas. Manzanillo boasts a more “authentic Mexico” atmosphere with a reputation for tranquil lifestyle compared to other resort towns. With a low unemployment rate in Manzanillo, many of the vast beaches in the area are virtually unpopulated during the week since most everyone is at work. Manzanillo also is renowned for its low crime rate in comparison the rest of Mexico, with the state of Colima regarded as having the lowest crime rate in this country and rated 7th in the world for safest states. The climate is steadily in the 80s most of the year. .

Manzanillo, Mexico, gains popularity
By Cali Zimmerman, at Ventana Magazine The port city of Manzanillo, Mexico may offer some excellent real estate investment opportunities for foreign investors looking for an alternative to Mexican tourist cities such as Cabo, Cancun and Puerto Vallarta. Real estate values in Manzanillo have been on the rise in recent years and will likely continue to increase as the city gains popularity with cruise lines, expatriates, and holidaymakers. Located on the western coast of the state of Colima, Manzanillo City was home to 110,728 residents as of the 2005 Population and Housing Census. Manzanillo City is the municipal seat of the Manzanillo municipality. Copper and marble deposits can be found in the region, and a large portion of the municipality’s economy is founded on agriculture. Crops such as corn, sorghum and green chilies are grown, as well as cyclical crops such as watermelons, tomatoes, pumpkins and perennial crops such as mangoes and tamarind.
Manzanillo, A Thriving Port Town
By: Charles Sipe at MexicoRealEstateInvestment.org
We recently interviewed real estate broker Candy King, owner of Coldwell Banker in Manzanillo. Candy came to Manzanillo in 1999 and gave up retirement to try her hand at real estate. She started Manzanillo Pacific Real Estate five years later and then opened Coldwell Banker Bienes Raíces in Manzanillo. What sets Manzanillo apart from other real estate locations in Mexico such as Puerto Vallarta, Mazatlan, or Los Cabos? Manzanillo has the largest port facility in Mexico. For that reason, we will never get the tourist money from the government that the other beach communities receive. We do not need it. In our minds, that is a good thing. For those of us who live here, it keeps the time share sales people and the vendors to a minimum. Actually time shares are almost non existent. Our beaches are still available to the local population, they are not polluted, and it is a tranquil environment. Yet, we DO have three large shopping centers including Commercial, Soriana’s and Walmart. We have most of the fast food companies as of the last year including Starbuck’s, Subway, Burger King, Kentucky Fried Chicken, Dairy Queen, Dolphy’s ice cream and many more good and great restaurants.

Manzanillo
Manzanillo is not a typical seaside resort town. It is at once a luxury beach destination, a bustling commercial port, and a pristine, undeveloped, eco-friendly region. Wonderful beaches, deep sea fishing, and water sports abound in this gold coast destination, as well as tennis and golf.
