Mexico city is one of the oldest, most diverse, and interesting cities in Mexico and in the world.  This is the capital of the nation, and is the most important economic, and cultural area of the country.

The city has a population of over 8,836,000, but when you include the surrounding municipalities, the population exceeds 22 million people and this means it is the largest urban city in the western hemisphere, and the second largest city in the world.

History of Mexico City

Mexico City was once the hub of the Aztec empire, and todays Zocalo is built on the spot where Montezumas palace existed.  The buildings of the historical center are many centuries old, and some even have stones that came from the Aztec temples, when they were destroyed by the Spanish Conquistadores.

What to do in Mexico City?

At one point or another everyone must visit Mexico City. There are world renown museums here, archaeological ruins and treasures, altamazingly wonderful restaurants, and wonderful shopping to have in this city. Here you find the ecological park of Chapultepec, the famous museum of Anthropology, among others.

This city is equipped with every type of transportation possible. There is a great subway system, taxis anywhere you go, and a great bus system to. The city boasts many beautiful parks, fountains and renown monuments that decorate the large avenues, streets, and parks.
The Alameda and the Palace of Fine arts have been in existence since 1541 making them the oldest parks and museums in the nation. The park is also known for its history, as it was once the Aztec Market and the place where Spanish did their executions, and hangings.
