History of Mexico CityMexico City was once the hub of the Aztec empire, and todays Zocalo is built on the spot where Montezumas palace existed. The buildings of the historical center are many centuries old, and some even have stones that came from the Aztec temples, when they were destroyed by the Spanish Conquistadores.
