The capital of the Patagonia province of Santa Cruz is Rio Gallegos. Rio Gallegos is the southern continental city in the country. It has an international airport, banks, hotels, restaurants, and convenction centers.
Rio Gallegos is in the immensity of the Patagonian plateau, crossed by river valleys in a west east direction. This city is devoted to sheep husbandry. It has a commercial pier and timber pier. It is also a fishing port, where products such as sheep frozen meat, wool and leather, as well as coal from the mines in Rio Turbio are exported.

Rio Gallegos is famous for its fly fishing and is excellent fishery for brown trout.
