This lovely city is the very heart of Nicaragua folklore and crafts. Its handicraft market, the largest in Nicaragua overflows with colorful hand-woven hammocks, embroider blouses, wood carving, and hemp weaving such as wall hanging, hats and floor mats. This is but a small example of the handicrafts which can be found in this rich agricultural region.

Just outside the city of Nicaragua’s most awesome and spectacular attractions is the Masaya Volcanic National Park. Its exotic and sometimes eerie ambiance was formed by old eruptions and lava flow. In the center of the park you see the two volcanoes Masaya and Nindiri, with total of five craters. Other important sights to see are LakeManagua, Masaya Lagoon, and Mombacho Volcano. It’s inhabited by very tranquil but hard working people.
