For pristine, white, environmentally friendly beaches, that  are quiet and solitary, there is nothing like the Playa del Carmen beaches!

Playa del Carmen is in the state of Quintana Roo and is in the northeast part of the state right in the Caribean Sea. This is a small beach urban development with a little over 100,000 people but it is growing quickly in population, and quickly becoming popular among foreigners.

This is a small beach urban development with a little over 100,000 people but it is growing quickly in population, and quickly becoming popular among foreigners. These are some of the most gorgeous beaches, with few people running around. Catching a Wave of Appreciation in the Rivera Maya about Cancun, Playa del Carmen and Cozumel

By: Thomas Lloyd at Ventana Magazine
During the 1990’s the little village was known as the pier town where you grabbed the ferry to get to Cozumel. As this little village has become more intertwined with the international business world, adjustments to the real estate market have been a direct effect of the world economic downturn.

The losses of jobs and corporate sales in the economies of the US and Canada have reduced the number of buyers here in Mexico. The bankruptcies of several international banks have also tightened both the regulations on credits and the amount of available capital for investments. These economic hardships have decreased the demand of the Riviera Maya market place.

Is Mexico Dangerous? One Journalist's View

 By Linda Ellerbee,

Picture > Linda in her Lucky Duck Productions office in New York City.

Sometimes I've been called a maverick because I don't always agree with my colleagues, but then, only dead fish swim with the stream all the time. The stream here is Mexico

You would have to be living on another planet to avoid hearing how dangerous Mexico has become, and, yes, it's true drug wars have escalated violence in Mexico, causing collateral damage, a phrase I hate. Collateral damage is a cheap way of saying that innocent people, some of them tourists, have been robbed, hurt or killed.

But that's not the whole story. Neither is this. This is my story.

Playa del Carmen - Scuba Diving

alt

Playa del Carmen has many marvelous spots to go snorkeling, scuba diving and even cave diving. Along the Great Mayan Reef, the second largest coral reef system in the world, you can dive among hundreds of multicolored fish and discover coral formations that have been around for more than 500 years. At the sinkholes (ponds connected to underground river systems) located in Playa del Carmen’s environs you can explore various caves and caverns full of stalactite and stalagmite formations, allowing you to take in sights of rare beauty that few people will have the opportunity to see.

Inside México talks with Judi Shaw of Resorts Real Estate.

Inside México: What percentage of your clients are Americans? Canadians? Europeans?
Judi Shaw: Typically our foreign clients are 50 percent American, 40 percent Canadian, and the balance Europeans. Although lately I would say that Canadians are leading the pack  with the current [economic] situation in the States. Mexicans are very active clients in this area.

Boomers Living Abroad

The number of Americans and Canadians living abroad, by today's count approximately 7 million (according to The Washington Post), is twice the population of Chicago and greater than that of 33 U.S. States. A number that has grown steadily over the past decade, and it is expected to more than double within ten years. In the next 20 years, 100 million baby boomers, from the USA and Canada, are going to retire. Five million baby boomers turn age 60 each year, Ten Thousand per day, Eight per minute, and scores of them are purchasing property abroad as vacation homes or investment homes. Naturally, many of them are auditioning these homes for potential primary retirement residences.
