Carnaval/Mardi Gras Puerto Vallarta Preview 2012

Parade Goes Live
Colorful carnaval enlivens Puerto Valarta on February 18, 2012.

The 4th Annual Mardi Gras parade promises to be bigger and better than ever.  The route is about three times as long.  It begins at 9pm.  The fun starts at Park Hidalgo, runs south along the malecón, makes a right on Basilio Badillo and then a left on Olas Altas to its conclusion.

Parade organizers are anticipating around 100 entries.  These range from walking performers to elaborate floats.

Several thousand spectators are expected, but if you are not in town, no problem.  For the first time the parade will be live on the internet, produced by Video Diva Productions.  "I'm so excited about the live broadcast with multiple, professional cameras," says Laura Gelezunas, owner, Video Diva Productions, "I've assembled a crew that is enthusiastic to push the envelope for this broadcast."

Video Diva Productions plans on having at least three cameras, several hosts and shooting from various locations.  Watch the parade live and interact with the crew for a truly social experience.  It will be shown via LiveStream and check it out on http://www.BanderasNews.com

Celebrate spring and diversity in Puerto Vallarta.  Watch the Carnaval/Mardi Gras parade live, on the street or in the comfort of your home.  Don't forget, you can hook up your computer to your television.

Interested in participating in the parade, contact the organizing committee through their website http://www.carnavalvallarta.com/

Winds of Change in Mexico
The Inter-American Development Bank (IDB) has approved a loan of up to 72 million usd to help finance the construction of a 396-megawatt wind farm in Mexico, a project that will expand renewable energy supply in the country and contribute to reduce emissions of greenhouse gases.

The project, the biggest wind farm in Mexico and one of the largest in Latin America, will be located in the La Ventosa region of Oaxaca, one of the world’s best regions for wind resources.

The project, forecast to reduce emissions by up to approximately 1 million metric tons of carbon dioxide annually, will be made up of 132 towers with turbines and include the construction of a 52-kilometer transmission line linking the farm with the electricity grid.

The operation is part of growing IDB support to help Mexico develop its renewableenergy industry. The Bank has been supporting Mexico in developing the regulatory and institutional framework necessary to incorporate renewable sources of energy into the energy
matrix as well as implement its Renewable Energy Law.
