Posted by Thomas Lloyd in Untagged

Thomas Lloyd

One great part about Mexico land investment is that it opens doors to excellent investment for buyers who may not have the funds or “inside scoop” to invest back home.  Buyers need to keep two main factors under their control; safe buying and smart buying.

Americans abroad are diverse in background, culture, language and experience.

Posted by Boomer Abroad in Untagged

Boomer Abroad
According to recent data released from the US State Department, there are an estimated 6 million Americans living abroad. Due to the fact that Americans living abroad are not counted in the US census, this figure is based on various data, resources, and assumptions. Based on a 2010 survey of population size by state, those 6 million overseas Americans would be the equivalent in size to the state of Missouri.

American Citizens Abroad will be writing a series of articles about the demographic profile of these overseas Americans. Who are they? What do they do? How has their overseas experience impacted their life, career and family decisions? The community of American citizens living abroad should be understood recognized and their voices should be heard.

Americans abroad are as diverse in background, culture, language and experience as the population residing in the 48 contiguous states. Historically, as immigration had and continues to be a driving force in creating what it is “to be” American, so is emigration important to those citizens who are representing American values, expression and commerce overseas.

The article will attempt to describe how being an American abroad adds to the economic footprint and cultural diversity, not only within the United States of America, but also outside of its borders.

If you have a story to share about your own experience as an American Abroad, please visit Americans Citizens Abroad Facebook Page or send your story to www.aca.ch/mailsend.php.

Crooks Two-Timing Timeshare Owners & Jennifer Kirk Pleads Guilty of Telemarketing Scam

Posted by SIlver Planet in Untagged

SIlver Planet
By Florence Klein -

Timeshare scams are on the rise as corrupt companies and individuals swindle timeshare owners across the nation out of millions of dollars. Dishonest operations promise to sell or rent the owner’s timeshare with no intention of doing either.

Jennifer Kirk of New Jersey, and formerly Florida, was sentenced this January having pled guilty to criminal information that alleged that she operated Universal Marketing Solutions and later Creative Vacation Solutions in Palm Beach County, Florida between October 2007 and December 2009. How and where senior travellers can save

Posted by Boomer Abroad in Untagged

By Michael Brazile at Cheapflights Canada.

While senior airfare discounts are not as common as they used to be, many airlines still offer seniors travel deals. We’ve compiled a list of Canadian airlines that currently offer a fixed percentage off their published ticket price, as well as non-Canadian airlines with savings opportunities to consider. Note: Some of Canada’s major airlines – Air Canada, Air Canada Jazz and WestJet – do not offer any senior airfares.

Boomers Beware / Boomers Need to Pay Attention to their Money

Posted by Boomer Abroad in Untagged

Boomer Abroad

Here's a little secret that all of you boomers should know.

Unsustainable U.S. debt has finally caught up with us.  Government forecasts are unrealistically optimistic as Obama continues to pump money into the economy to help stimulate demand and get us out of the downward spiral we are in.  The money they are pumping in was not earned, it was created out of thin air.  For every dollar that gets created out of thin air, the value of your assets, savings, investments and real estate goes down.

here are some fundamental reasons why we are in this mess.  Some major factors include the fact that we have exported many of our jobs, we are carrying huge amounts of debt, we continue to import more than we export, we have been unrealistic in the value of our homes, we have failed to save effectively, banks have adopted a very tight lending strategy, our cost of health care is unaffordable due to the threat of torts, litigation, malpractice claims and layers of attorneys and insurance companies that are living off the health care system and our government has recently privatized much of the debt that was being carried by foolish investors.  Even in a good economy, our Social Security and health care benefits are unrealistic.  Our government has now built up the largest debt level in history and sooner or later someone has to pay it off.  The single biggest threat to us boomers is the instability of the value of the US dollar.  The dollar has continued to slide against more stable currencies, eroding the value of your assets and savings.  For most of us, our assets are things like our home, our stock portfolios including retirement funds and our savings.  As the dollar drops in value, our net worth falls on a global basis.

TORONTO -
As a baby boomer, I'm tired of the scare tactics. We're told we have to reform health and pensions because boomers are aging - and are about to consume more than our fair share of health and pension cash.

I’ll be honest – there are lots of great beachfront locations in Mexico, and buying Mexico beachfront for sale is a dream for many Americans and Canadians.  Yet there is something – or, I should say, a few things – that set Playa del Carmen apart as exemplary.

A reality check on Mexico. The new Global Economic Reality

Posted by Thomas Green in Untagged

Thomas Green
I found this article very interesting and wanted to share it with You. By Bob Miller.

First: A reality check on Mexico

Mexico is in a unique position to reap many of the benefits of the decline of the US economy. In order to not violate NAFTA and other agreements the U.S.A. cannot use direct protectionism, so it is content to allow the media to play this protectionist role. The U.S. media – over the last year – has portrayed Mexico as being on the brink of economic collapse and civil war. The Mexican people are either beheaded, kidnapped, poor, corrupt, or narco-traffickers. The American news media was particularly aggressive in the weeks leading up to spring break. The main reason for this is money. During that two-week period, over 120,000 young American citizens poured into Mexico and left behind hundreds of millions of dollars.

Let’s look at the reality of the massive drug and corruption problem, kidnappings, murders and money. The U.S. Secretary of State Clinton was clear in her honest assessment of the problem. “Our insatiable demand for illegal drugs fuels the drug trade. Our inability to prevent the weapons from being illegally smuggled across the border to arm these criminals causes the deaths of police officers, soldiers and civilians,” Clinton said. The other large illegal business that is smuggled into the U.S.A. that no one likes to talk about is Human Traffic for prostitution. This “business” is globally now competing with drugs in terms of profits.

Boomers Abroad

BoomersAbroad.com was born in direct response to hundreds of conversations with baby boomers from the USA and Canada who were seeking a new life, and to better understand how they might live abroad, travel abroad, relocate abroad, retire abroad and/or invest abroad. Leading industry experts and many of those who have journeyed ahead will share their personal experiences and knowledge in a great variety of areas.

Boomers Living Abroad

The number of Americans and Canadians living abroad, by today's count approximately 7 million (according to The Washington Post), is twice the population of Chicago and greater than that of 33 U.S. States. A number that has grown steadily over the past decade, and it is expected to more than double within ten years. In the next 20 years, 100 million baby boomers, from the USA and Canada, are going to retire. Five million baby boomers turn age 60 each year, Ten Thousand per day, Eight per minute, and scores of them are purchasing property abroad as vacation homes or investment homes. Naturally, many of them are auditioning these homes for potential primary retirement residences.
