Remember Ron Popeil? He’s the legendary inventor and direct marketing proponent (still going strong at 75) who invented the Showtime Rotisserie and sold it on half hour late night infomercials. He’d jam a rib roast onto a set of revolving skewers, lock it into the gizmo and the studio audience would join him in shouting “set it and forget it”, each audience member transfixed with a goofy, trance-like grin as the roast began its revolutions.
