The Institute of the Americas is pleased to host a timely conference to discuss important policy issues and market trends relating to the provision of health care for Americans in Mexico and cross-border health care. Several market drivers, including the health care reform bill, point to increased demand for health care services and affordable health care payment options. This conference will help the community explore how this region will be affected, and what can be done not only to address change, but to turn change into good cross-border opportunities. Americans are increasingly looking southward for both health care and retirement living. Mexico is capable of providing quality care and has embraced "health tourism" as a viable economic development option. But more must be done on both sides of the border in terms of government policy and other practices to make what is now a reality for a few into a possibility for many. At the conference, facts will be shared, challenges recognized, and cross-border opportunities explored. The conference will be of interest to employers evaluating health insurance alternatives to offer to their employees, health insurers, brokers, health care providers (hospitals, clinics), health care administrators, labor unions, the hospitality industry, government agencies, and anyone wishing to learn more about cross-border health care delivery. |
